Using Natural Remedies to Halt Arthritis Pain
Before we can begin to cure it, we have to understand exactly what arthritis is. Simply put, it is an incurable, progressive disease which attacks and destroys joints in human victims. Most people are affected in the knees, ankles, wrists, or fingers. Of course, there have been a lot of cases where people were affected in the hips, jaws, and shoulders. It seems that wherever there's a joint in the body, it can be affected by arthritis.
Assessing Alternative Remedies
The pain of arthritis can become as extreme as to be barely tolerable for some patients. Because of this, arthritis sufferers are forced to find treatments which will successfully help them manage their conditions. Many of them are electing natural treatments in view of the addictive properties of prescription medications. They are also choosing to eliminate physiotherapy and massage from their lists of the treatments they want to use. Only a few studies have been done on the effects of natural remedies for arthritis, but the ones that have been showed resounding results in favor of the use of natural remedies.
The effectiveness of natural remedies depends on the body make up of each person using them. They work in some cases and not in others. From the ever-growing demand for natural remedies, it's apparent that the drugs must be working for a large number of patients. Arthritis research studies, although limited in scope, are pointing to a positive answer to the question, "Will natural remedies help relieve arthritis symptoms?"
There are a number of different natural treatments you might want to consider. Never begin on any of them without letting your doctor know what your plans are. And always remember that the U.S. government has not yet regulated these substances as medications, and no one knows what the side effects could be.
* Ginger – testing has been done in the Netherlands to determine if it is in any way effective for alleviating arthritis symptoms. Results showed that patients who chewed a little bit of raw ginger each day saw a large improvement in the amount of pain and swelling they were having. Other ways to include ginger in your daily diet include adding it to a variety of soups, salads, and sauces.
* Aloe Vera – Aloe Vera is truly an amazing substance. This larger-than-life herb has been proven to be nutritionally beneficial in no less than 200 ways. Among its benefits is that it can improve the body's abilities to fight pain and inflammation. This is good news for arthritis patients. There have been studies which have proven the positive effects of Aloe Vera on the immune system which, in turn, positively impacts arthritis symptoms.
* Bee Stings – As hard as it is to imagine, this method of curing the pain and inflammation of arthritis has been around for hundreds of years. In fact, Hippocrates, who is thought of as the father of medicine, mentioned the treatment numerous times in his writings. Unlike the ancient Greeks, however, who had to go out looking for their bees, you can now get an injection of bee venom in your doctor's office.
